Overview

Upper Dolpo trekking route is a remote and unspoiled area near the Tibetan border of Nepal.  Nepal’s first English subtitle movie and Oscar-nominated Himalaya or Caravan were also shot in this region. Upper Dolpo is a region of mystical beauty. And its remoteness adds to the sense of adventure among its visitors. The customs and traditions seem here are similar to those of Tibet. It is one of the restricted trekking regions of Nepal. Tourists need permission to enter this zone.

The Upper Dolpo trekking route passes many gigantic mountain ranges of Mt. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Kanjiroba. Trekkers get chance to analyze g about the wild remoteness, the stunning mountain scenery and the fact that the local people had that innocent friendliness peculiar to people who live in excessively remote mountainous regions in this trekking route. People are rustic but they are helpful.

This trek starts from the Kathmandu valley to Nepalgunj by flight, in the humid south-west close to the Indian border, then to Dolpo’s airport at Juphal. After that trek continues up the Phoksundo Khola through a mix of beautiful forests and arid landscapes leads to Ringmo and the beautiful Phoksundo Lake which is the deepest lake situated at 650 m. It is 4,8km long and 1,8km, wide. Inner Dolpo Shey gompa trek traverses the cliff face along the side of the lake and then leads up the Phoksundo Valley gently at first then more steeply. The trail follows its narrow ravine to higher ridges and beautiful campsite to Shey Gompa a Tibetan influence settlement and prosperous Saldang village, a two kilometers ribbon Bön village of five settlements that lies on the trade route to Tibet.

Trip to upper Dolpo trekking pass many mystical stunning peaks and witness the spiritual charms of the remote monastery of Shey Gompa, which was established in the eleventh century and little has changed here since then. After that We pass over other two high passes: the Sela which is situated at 5094m and the Jyanta pass at 5221m before trekking descend to the Dho Tarap valley in our way to Juphal airstrip to end our historical trip of a lifetime to upper Dolpa, the land of mystery, scenery, and peace. We promise to provide our quality of services with the eco-friendly environment makes your trip memorable.
