Lower Dolpa Trek is an exciting trekking area in Nepal. The Lower Dolpa Treks calls for a real adventure as the trekkers will have a chance to explore this virgin land in the Western part of Nepal. This is a remote area with innocent people. As the Dolpa Trek passes through Shey-Phoksundo National Park, the trekking route has special significance. It helps to explore spectacular mountains, majestic Buddhist monasteries and the caravans of Yak, all of which make for a great destination for adventure.
Our Lower Dolpo trek starts after flights from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Juphal, which is the starting point of the Lower Dolpo trek. The trail passes through beautiful villages, deep gorges, and remote zones before reaching the Phoksundo Lake. The deepest lake of Nepal is Shey-Phoksundo Lake which is situated at a height of 3,611.5m in this region. This trek has become very famous among trekkers since the route opened and this route is very well known in western Nepal. The main attractions of the trek are the ancient Buddhist monasteries, the Tibetan plateau, the gripping lifestyles of the local folks & their absorbing culture.
The trekkers also traverse through two high passes: Numa La (5360m), the highest point of the trek, and Baga La (5070m). Both these passes offer extraordinary views of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) and the Tibetan ranges—Kugung La and Khyung La. During summer, we can see the caravans of yaks and sheep heading towards their destination. Another highlight of the trek includes the pristine turquoise Phoksundo Lake, split between rocks that rise 2000m into the clear mountain skies. The Dolpo region is populated by Tibetan and Magar people who still practice the pre-Buddhist Bon Po religion. The trek also includes visits to the ancient monasteries (gompas) and Bon Po shrines surrounding the Phoksundo Lake. Lower Dolpo Trek is for those trekkers who love wild adventures. We always want your satisfaction and we have an expert guide to make your trip memorable.
