Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes, recognized for the series of beautiful turquoise lakes in the Gokyo valley and the famous Cho La Pass, takes us through the landmarks of the Khumbu region in the company of majestically soaring mountains, friendly Sherpas, colorful monasteries, the Namche Bazaar, the Sagarmatha National Park, and, of course, to the base of the mighty Everest. The trek in advancing to the base of the world’s tallest mountain maps out spectacular vistas from such celebrated viewpoints like Gokyo RI and Kala Patthar. Start before sunrise for the tough Cho La ascent and long descent to Lobuche. This can be a difficult, cold but very beautiful trek and memorable trek. The trail then rises, for two easier days, to Gorak Shep. After lunch, walk to view the ring of peaks surrounding Everest Base Camp, on the Khumbu Glacier – and the ice fall towards the summit. From Gorak Shep, a sunrise hike up Kala Patthar offers superb views of Everest, the South Col, Nuptse and the glacier below. After breakfast, begin the easier, warmer, four day downward trek to Lukla which is Guided by our experienced trek leader, your first day’s trek begins from Lukla. Pay your respects at the sacred Tengboche Monastery. Traverse the Khumbu glacier to reach Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. Follow a secluded route to the stunning Gokyo Valley and the cobalt blue Gokyo Lakes. Negotiate your way across the high mountain pass of Cho La and Nzogumpa Glacier, Nepal’s longest glacier. These non-technical ascents may test you physically but will provide you with incredible mountain views. In Lukla, celebrate the last night in the mountains with your teammates and crew.
