Manaslu circuit is one of the most amazing treks I’ve done so far! It’s less crowded than Annapurna or Everest basecamp and has beautiful views. The trek starts in a green valley with forests and rice fields. After a few days it becomes more narrow and mountainous, giving way to great views of the surrouding peaks. One of the highlights was going to Manaslu basecamp, with the peaks being so close. The Larkya pass was quite different again, resembling almost a moon-like landscape. After that we had a few days too many (14 or 15 should be enough), but we did some wonderful side trips to tiny villages and a nunnery
High Spirit did a great job of making this all possible within a few days. My guide NB knew a lot about the local nature and found some great side trips and tracks, avoiding a jeep road the last few days. The porter, Kechav, is a super friendly guy with lots of knowledge of trekking and climbing. Accomodation and food were all well taken care off. However, to avoid possible discussions you might think of paying for that yourself.
All in all I had an amazing trek. If you’re thinking about doing a trek, definitely go to Manaslu before it’s too crowded!
By the way, for the people who are interested, I wrote (in Dutch) a comprehensive blog about the trip:
